Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.'s)

1. Q. My Machine has just started Running Really Slow.
   A. Make sure your Anti-Virus is up-to-date and run a spyware program to make sure you haven't been hit. Spyware programs like Ad-Aware or Spyware Doctor will locate over 95% of these causes.
   
   You could also check your Hard drive capacity, if the disk is nearly full, the system won't actually have enough processing space.
   
   Also try running a Defragmentation, this is found in the System Tools menu of the Accessories section. Make sure you disable your Anti-Virus, Spyware, Screen Saver and anything else that may use the disk drive whilst running the Defrag.


2. Q. Internet Temporary Files and Cookies.
   A. Everytime you use your Internet Browser, files and cookies are downloaded to your hard disk.
   
   From time to time you should enter the Internet Options and clean your cookies and Temporary files. In fact Microsoft's Internet Explorer has a setting in the Advanced Tab of the Options window which should be turned on. The setting is about 6 from the end and says "Delete Temporary Files when Browser is closed".


3. Q. Internet Security.
   A. There are many Internet Security programs out there, but the best security is not using a Program on your computer but an external router or firewall device. It is always better to stop the buggers before they get to your computer.
   
   Always remember the best security is to TURN OFF your modem when you're not using it.
